Job Description Position Summary
The Optometry Specialist promotes a range
of B&L proprietary prescription and over-the
counter eye care products to optometrists in
private practice.
Specific Job Duties
1. Promote B&L anti-inflammatory, anti-
infective, and over-the-counter products to
optometrists
2. Acquire and constantly evolve knowledge
around disease states for which B&L products
are indicated
3. Utilize selling techniques that will bring
value and influence customer thinking around
treating and managing patients
4. Work with Regional Business Director to
assess territory sales performance and drive
sales results that meet or exceed forecast for
the territory
5. Establish introductory relationships with
key contacts at learning institutions
6. Collaborate with overlapping member of
existing ophthalmology salesforce -
Pharmaceutical Territory Managers (PTM)
7. Attend trade shows and health fairs as
scheduled
Qualifications Qualifications:
1. BA/BS required
2. 2 5 years of pharmaceutical sales
experience with proven track record of
success required
3. Required residence in territory geography
Requirements:
1. Driven to succeed, demonstrated ability to
achieve annual target incentive
2. Excellent verbal and written
communication skills
3. Ability to create a network of customers
and industry contacts, including K.O.L.s and
speakers
4. Demonstrated competency with
studies/clinical reprints
5. Skilled in strategic selling with a desire to
assist others with success
6. Working knowledge of
computer/administrative applications:
Peoplesoft, GBS, email, etc
Additional:
Individuals who are successful as Optometry
Specialists, with at least one year of
experience in their position will be eligible to
apply for vacancies/expansions within the
current Eyecare salesforce (PTMs). Current
PTMs will not be eligible for newly created
Optometry Specialist positions unless there
are extenuating circumstances that include
hardship.
